Zachary Hill is a Technologist/Leader/Maven/Architect/Engineer/Solver of Problems/Adventure Enthusiast. He recently started his role at Govplace as Senior Director of Strategic Technology.
Zachary spent his previous seven years working as a CTO (Chief Technology Officer) in a successful start-up, that has gone through recent rounds of funding.
Zachary’s accolades include:
- His team won AWS (Amazon Web Services) 2022 and 2021 NPO Partner of the Year award. He played a big part in the vision, strategy, and execution
- Architected scalable web applications for a major power company in the United States. Required scaling from 10,000 concurrent users on average to over 4 million concurrent users
- First organization and project to migrate more than 90% of credit union servers and core provider to AWS public cloud
- Built a cloud backup product SaaS platform utilizing python and AWS serverless technology: Python, Lambda, SQS, and SNS
- Built out over 98% of all terraform modules and 50,000+ lines of code, which are leveraged in projects and managed services
- Led incident response and recovery for four major ransomware events, including a major healthcare provider and financial institution. Required migration of all services to the cloud to preserve forensics and speed recovery in parallel
- Spent several years building the annual technology budget for 20+ financial institutions
- Most importantly, he watched his team grow from individual young engineers into a tight-knit team of strong senior engineers and leaders
