Dr. Michael Valivullah

Dr. Michael Valivullah is a member of Senior Executive Service (SES) in the US Federal Government. He has served as the Director and CIO at NASS. Prior to joining NASS, Dr. Valivullah spent about 9 years in the public sector, working in positions such as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the Science and Technology Directorate at the Department of Homeland Security, Associate Director, Chief of Programs and Planning and Chief Enterprise Architect at the U.S. Capitol Police.
Before joining the federal government, he worked in the private sector at a number of companies, including EDS (HP), Lockheed Martin, FINRA (NASDAQ), U.S. Food Service, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, FreddieMac, Sabre, SES, MCI Telecom and US Airways. He also served as a staff member at Georgetown University and Virginia-Tech.
Dr. Valivullah was certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP) by the Project Management Institute (PMI) and certified by the Federal Chief Information Officer (CIO) Council as a Federal CIO. He is also in certified in Enterprise Architecture, Data Strategy, Data Quality, Data Warehousing, Customer Relationship Management, IT Best Practices (ITIL Foundations, UK) and Cyber Security (CISSP).
He has a Master’s Degree in IT Systems Management, an Advanced Master’s Certification in Project Management and a doctorate in Biomedical Sciences. He graduated from the Senior Executive Service Candidate Development Program (SES-CDP) at the Department of Energy. He has completed senior executive leadership training at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard Business School and Office of Personnel Management (OPM).
