Lieutenant General Bruce T. Crawford

Lieutenant General (Retired) Bruce T. Crawford is an inspired, thought leader of character with over thirty-six years of leadership, executive management, national security, digital transformation, and cybersecurity experience.

Current Position: Board Member (Public, Private and Non-Profit), C-Suite Advisor, Volunteer After retiring from the U.S. Army in October 2020, Bruce served at Jacobs Engineering until 2023 as the Senior Vice President for Strategic Development with responsibility for Growth and Sales in the $5B Critical Mission Solutions Line of Business. In his most recent role at Jacobs, he was Chief of Innovation, Chair of the Digital Advisory Group and Director of the Digital Center of Excellence, with responsibility for leading the company’s global digital transformation and innovation initiatives.

Prior to joining Jacobs’, Bruce held a C-Suite position serving as the U.S. Army’s Chief Information Officer (CIO) and senior Information Technology (IT) accountable official, where he performed the duties as the principal enterprise IT and cybersecurity policy advisor to the Secretary of the Army and the Army Chief of Staff. Bruce’s duties and responsibilities also included execution and oversight of the Army’s $18B annual IT budget, the Army’s data and cloud migrations, digital transformation, and delivery of IT capabilities from the tactical edge to the enterprise at 288 locations in 143 countries world-wide.

A native of Columbia, South Carolina, Bruce was commissioned through South Carolina State University’s Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program on May 28, 1986, after graduating as a Distinguished Military Graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He also holds a Master of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University, a Master of Science in National Resource Strategy from the National Defense University in addition to an Honorary Doctor of Public Service from South Carolina State University.

During his 34 years of service, Bruce served in a variety of key positions at the operational, strategic, and tactical levels in every major theater of operations, which includes Europe, the Pacific and Southwest Asia. Other executive assignments include oversight of the Army’s IT hardware and software global logistics enterprise as Commanding General, U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM)/Installation Commander of 21,000 employees at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Aberdeen, Maryland; Director of Cyber/CIO U.S. European Command and Special Assistant to the Army Chief of Staff in the Pentagon, Washington, D.C with responsibility for the professional development for over 360 Army General Officers.

Bruce’s awards and decorations include the Black Engineer of The Year Association’s (BEYA) 2020 Black Engineer of The Year, the Distinguished Service Medal, and the Bronze Star Medal. He is also certified to wear the Army Combat Action Badge, the Master Parachutist Badge, and the U.S Army Ranger Tab.

Current and past Board of Director positions include Avalara Inc., Foundation Risk Partners Inc., Comtech, Inc., The George C. Marshall International Center and The Executive Committee Armed Forces Communications Electronics Association (AFCEA). Bruce served as an advisor to The Partners Group Private Equity firm, in addition to Advisory Board positions with CyberArk and Rubrik cyber security firms, South Carolina State University’ Business School and North Carolina A&T University’s Graduate School. Bruce also volunteers as the National Chair of the Black Engineer of The Year Associations’ K-12 Science Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Mentoring Program.
