The Department of Homeland Security’s National Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center (NCCIC) today published a set of security tips for securing enterprise wireless networks. The suggestions were distributed through the United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT) at DHS. The post delves into various measures any company, educational institution, or government agency can use to minimize risks to enterprise Wi-Fi networks and offers best practices for curbing any unauthorized access to networks. Among several recommendations, NCCIC highlighted the need to “deploy a wireless intrusion detection system (WIDS) and a wireless intrusion prevention system (WIPS) on every network,” and outlined additional security measures available to WIDS/WIPS sensor networks.
