The Office of the National Cyber Director (ONCD) is developing Federal interagency processes to create transparent and coherent cyber action plans that align with the current activity underway in the cyber landscape, an agency official said.
Camille Stewart Gloster, the deputy national cyber director for Technology and Ecosystem Security at ONCD, explained that as the agency prepares to develop and release new strategies and guidance, ONCD is heavily engaged with Federal agencies, private partners, and international partners to produce cohesive and coherent action plans.
“ONCD is charged with harmonizing policy, action, and doctrine so that we embody that whole-of-nation approach. So, that means engaging in efforts to ensure that the context in which we operate considers all the work happening around us, creates efficiencies, and understands and orients itself around a strategy and an action plan,” Gloster said at an event hosted by FCW on Sept. 21.
In addition, Gloster explained that ONCD’s partnership with related stakeholders is a big piece of the agency bringing its action plans to bear.
One example of this is the ONCD’s upcoming National Cyber Strategy – slated for next month. The strategy will articulate what the Federal government plans to do to support and empower the Federal government, private sector, and international partners.
“The strategy will articulate the priorities for the nation moving forward. It’ll identify areas of work and who is leading the charge on that and how the Federal government, private sector partners, and international partners should align around that work, and how we plan to engage them around that,” Gloster said.
“It will cover everything from the Federal space to emerging tech and everything in between,” she added.
