The Social Security Administration (SSA) has awarded Accenture Federal Services an $81 million contract to speed the processing of millions of forms annually.
Accenture Federal Services, a Federal consultant focusing on the automation of operations, will develop artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to “transform” administrative process and systems in the SSA.
The agency, which handles millions of forms each year including birth certificates, W-2 forms, and citizenship paperwork, currently receives and manages documents through email, mail, and fax.
The new contract will build upon SSA systems already using an enterprise hyper automation platform that includes deep learning – a type of AI – and data identification, extraction, and transcription.
The contractor will provide an infrastructure as a software (IaaS) roadmap – a cloud computing service model hosting computing resources in public, private, or hybrid clouds. The IaaS will provide intelligent automation installation, testing, and training.
“As the agency advances in its multi-year Modernization Plan to improve its ability to respond to changing retiree and survivors’ benefits needs at a manageable cost, our team will serve as a trusted partner every step of the way,” said Laura Coon, a managing director at Accenture Federal Services and the SSA client account lead.
The automation contract has a period-of-performance of five years.
