The Army Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) has announced that Maj. Gen. Jan Norris left his position as the Army’s director of cybersecurity late last week.

Norris has served as the Army’s director of cybersecurity and chief information security officer (CISO) in the OCIO since August 2022. Before that, he served as the commander of the 311th Signal Command (Theater).

“The OCIO bid a fond farewell to a great leader and talented cybersecurity expert. Maj. Gen. Jan Norris received the Legion of Merit for exceptional service as director of cybersecurity for the Army, culminating two years of hard, fruitful work,” stated the OCIO in a LinkedIn post.

“His expertise in cyber and signal fields led to significant improvements in Army network modernization, cyber defense, and cloud migration efforts. These efforts will benefit the Army for years to come,” the OCIO added. “From all of us in OCIO, thank you for your leadership and wisdom. You will be greatly missed. Best wishes in your next endeavor.”
