SGM Lonnie Dunbar III

Sergeant Major Lonnie Dunbar III became the Senior Enlisted Leader for the Space and Missile Defense Center of Excellence on 10 August 2022.
SGM Dunbar is a native of Sacramento, CA. He enlisted in the Army in August 2000 as a Microwave Systems Operator and Maintainer, completing Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Gordon, Georgia.
SGM Dunbar’s assignments include the 121st Signal Battalion, 1st Infantry Division (Kitzingen, Germany), where he completed deployments to Kosovo, Turkey, and Iraq; 114th Signal Battalion, 21st Signal Brigade (Fort Detrick, Maryland); White House Communications Agency (Washington, D.C.); G3, 335th Signal Command (Camp Arifjan, Kuwait); 53rd Signal Battalion (Satellite Control), 1st Space Brigade (Fort Buckner, Japan); and 304th Expeditionary Signal Battalion-Enhanced, 1st Theater Signal Brigade (Camp Humphreys, Korea).
SGM Dunbar’s military and civilian education include Associate and Bachelor Degrees in Electrical Engineering Technology from Grantham University; a Master’s of Cybersecurity from Webster University; Basic Leader Course (Commandant’s List); Advanced Leaders Course; Senior Leaders Course; Sergeant Major’s Course (Commandant’s List); Sexual Harassment/ Assault Response & Prevention Course; Battle Staff Noncommissioned Officer Course; Field Sanitation Team Course; and Combat Lifesaver Course. SGM Dunbar also holds the following certifications: Security+; Network+; Cisco Certified Network Associate; and the General Radiotelephone Operator License from the Federal Communications Commission.
